For the past 3 years, my daughter has used planaria for her science fair projects with great success. The planaria are easy to take care of and can be taught or used for regeneration studies.

Pros: Engaging, Grade Level Appropriate, cost effective

I order a set of the brown planaria each semester and they always arrive healthy, even in the "off season". I use them repeatedly and by changing the water every couple of weeks (spring water only) and storing them in the refrigerator, I can keep them alive for at least 4 months. These are a must have if you teach any invertebrate science. They can be viewed in detail under relatively low magnification on a stereomicroscope and students find them fascinating.
